suburose notebooksWhen I was a teenager, I wrote in my journal.  A lot.  More than anything, I wanted to make sure no one would read them, so I hid them well.  These days, kids have seem to lost the art of using journals.  After seeing these beautiful recycled, handmade notebooks by suburose, maybe you can change their mind!  These colorful books can be made completely customized -choose your color, with embellishments or text on them.  But the inside of the books are the coolest.  subu uses discarded printer paper as stock, so some pages have the print they came out of the printer with.  Now, I used to work in publishing, and I remember with horror how much paper we wasted from printer mishaps.  Makes me feel better to know some of it is being put to good use…

EXCLUSIVELY FOR TEENSY!  Win suburose’s ‘Top Secret’ journal for you or your secretive teenager.  Leave a comment here and I’ll pick a winner at random.  You have until Wednesday, July 25th at midnight to enter!  Good luck!

Very cool. My son would like one of these to use as a “commonplace” book (refers to A Series of Unfortunate Events).

Being in publishing, I can attest to how much paper-waste I’ve witnessed from time to time. It hurts my heart a little, but these subrose journals (and I keep plenty of journals) are a such a cute way to alleviate a little guilt!

I am a journal fanatic. I keep one for myself and one for each of my 2 kids, detailing what they are doing at their current age. I am always looking for cool ones to use! What a great idea to reuse paper.

Paige on 23 July, 2007 at 1:34 pm #

I love this, I’m always looking for ways to reuse things, another thing you can do with that pesky misprint paper is send it through the shredder, and then use it as a packing supply!

I love when people find creative ways to make beautiful recycled products! These journals are so cute.

I haven’t written in a journal in years. I used to write every day. Infact I used to want to be a writer. I wonder what happened to that. Oh yeah, life. Anyways, I guess if I had a new one, I could start writing in it.

Robin on 23 July, 2007 at 8:17 pm #

The journals are lovely and I like the natural look. I’m a writer, I have a journal for almost everything so one of these would make a nice addition. I’m sure I can find a use for it!
